ARTIS has been formed out of the ‘Avon Materials Development Centre’ (MDC) which was founded in 1998 to support the materials development and testing needs of Avon Rubber plc, and to consolidate its technical expertise.
Avon Rubber plc can trace its roots back to 1885, when manufacturing first commenced at ‘Avon Mill’ on a site along the banks of the River Avon at Limpley Stoke, near Bath.
Throughout its 10 yr life MDC was at the leading edge of Avons technology, developing and optimising materials for the automotive hose and vibration management market, protection, dairy, aerosol, business machines, storage tanks, crawler tracks, rail, and architectural protection :- a very diverse and demanding range of products.
MDC has been instrumental in many of the major advances in rubber products over the years, and in understanding the science and technology behind them. One of the main reasons for success has been the ability to understand the interface between the product and its environment and apply the appropriate science to optimise and develop that product. In particular we are proud of our involvement in the latest products for the protection market, such as the JSGPM, launched by Avon Rubber. Our groundbreaking work done in understanding the operation and design of dairy rubber products was key to the launch of the Milk-Rite business and a similar appraoch is being applied to aerosol sealing applications.
Consequently ARTIS is made up of a team of highly experienced industry problem solvers with a diverse background both inside and outside of the old MDC.
It is from this baseline that ARTIS was formed to market that expertise to industry and to offer the benefits of our experiences and knowledge to your products and services.
