Since the 1920’s, Avon has been designing and manufacturing respirators and today we are widely acknowledged as the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of specialist and general personal respiratory protection products for a range of CBRN applications. Avon is currently manufacturing the S10 respirator which is in service with the UK MoD, the FM12, which is the existing UK Police CBRN respirator compliant with the CR1 ensemble, and the C50 which is CE and NIOSH CBRN approved. One of the most revolutionary products in the Avon Protection Systems range is the EH20 CBRN Emergency Hood, which is a single use, compact hood, providing 20 minutes of protection allowing sufficient time to secure and evacuate a contaminated area.

In recent years Avon has achieved a number of notable successes: 

-  2000 - Avon Protection Systems was awarded the Joint Service General Purpose Mask (JSGPM) contract by the US Department of Defense, one of the largest PPE contracts in history.

- 2005, Avon purchased International Safety Instruments Inc (USA), a leading designer and manufacturer of SCBA. The ISI range has enhanced the product offering to end users and enabled integration of RPE systems to suit the varying operational requirements.

- 2007 - Avon launched Atlantair, the CE approved range of SCBAs opening up new opportunities within Europe and Asia During the same period in the USA, Avon -ISI was awarded NFPA certification for its latest fire fighting SCBA range, the Viking Z Seven.

- 2008 – M50 series of respirators enters service with the US Department of Defense JSGPM program. The ST53™ multi-role modular Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) System is showcased at Eurosatory.
