C-Symposium launch pad for CE approved FM53

Avon Protection, part of Avon Rubber p.l.c., will be launching its CE approved FM53 respiratory system at The 10th International Symposium on Protection against Chemical and Biological Warfare Agents exhibition in June. Demonstrations will also feature to give visitors a full picture of the mask’s key benefits.

Avon Protection to present DE&S chief with one millionth S10 mask award

Avon Rubber’s partnership with the Ministry of Defence is one example of a great success story between British Industry and UK defence procurement in supplying the ‘Best level of Protection’ to our troops worldwide. It is for this reason that on Wednesday 10 February, Melksham based Avon Protection, a part of Avon Rubber p.l.c., will present its one millionth S10 Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) mask to General Sir Kevin O’Donoghue, Defence Equipment and Support’s Chief of Defence Materiel.

Avons FM53 receives NIOSH Industrial Approval

Avon Protection Systems, part of Avon Rubber p.l.c., has received NIOSH approval under Title 42, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 84 (42 CFR 84) for the FM53 Air Purifying Respirator with the CTF12 riot agent canister. This respirator is approved under approval number TC-14G-0304 and offers protection from particulate hazards including dust, mist, fume, bacteria and virus, plus riot agents, Chlorobenzalmalononitrile (CS) and Phenacyl chloride (CN).

Avon Protection unveils 50 Series

Avon Protection Systems, part of Avon Rubber p.l.c., is showcasing its unique 50 Series of respiratory solutions at the Seoul International Aerospace and Defence exhibition. The 50 family represents the world’s newest CBRN respirators, comprising the FM50, FM53 and C50. The FM50 is a twin conformal filter CBRN full face mask specifically designed to meet the latest NATO forces military mask requirements. It has been developed to counter the multiple CBRN threats encountered in modern war fighting, anti-terrorist and peace keeping operations, whilst providing high levels of comfort and a whole range of integration capability.

New respirator service centre opens in Malaysia

Avon Protection, part of Avon Rubber p.l.c., is expanding its operations by opening an essential service and repair centre for its respirators with a local Malaysian company. The new centre will be fully approved and Avon certified, and is to be managed by SG Defence Electronics and Radar Corporation. It will be equipped to service and repair a range of Avon masks, including the C50, FM12 and S10, all of which are currently in service in Malaysia. Over time, this will be expanded to handle all of Avon’s respiratory solutions.

Avon Rubber p.l.c unveils SonarBell™ at DSEi

Avon Rubber p.l.c. is unveiling SALT’s newest product the revolutionary SonarBell™ at Defence Systems and Equipment International 2009 (DSEi). The SonarBell™, which is a result of a collaboration between SALT, Avon Rubber p.l.c and ARTIS, is a maintenance free, passive sonar locator system, that operates by focusing energy like a lens to amplify sound levels and reflect them to the sender. Looking like a bowling ball, it utilises the two materials of its shell and core to create a constructive interference that delivers a higher return signal to the end user. The device is ‘solid state’ with no moving parts or power requirements, and is compatible with existing commercial sonar sets.

Avon Protection Systems was awarded a $20,710,568 contract to provide 726,834 Chemical B canisters for the United States DoD Joint Service General Purpose Mask (JSGPM) Program.

State of Illinois Awards $650K Respiratory Protection Contract

Avon Protection Systems, Inc. and its distributor partner, Pro-Tech Sales, Inc., have announced the award of a contract in the amount of approximately $650,000 from the State of Illinois to produce up to 1500 respiratory protection devices for use by state agencies over the course of one year. Under the terms of the contract, Pro-Tech and Avon Protection will provide C50 model gas masks and filtration accessories to Illinois law enforcement end-users.

The FM53 mask has been specifically developed with the law enforcement and specialist military personnel in mind. Avon Protection Systems wants better protection for Police Officers

During a recent adjournment debate in the House of Commons led by Wiltshire MPs Michael Ancram and Andrew Murrison, the Minister for Security, Counter-Terrorism, Crime and Policing Tony McNulty stated that it was the role of Chief Constables in each police force to purchase and supply the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) to all police officers to protect against the ACPO identified CBRN risks.

Full rate production decision on M50 Mask for US JSGPM

The Joint Program Executive Officer for Chemical and Biological Defence, has approved the Joint Service General Purpose Mask (“JSGPM”) Program for entry into the Full Rate Production Phase of Systems Acquisition. The first order is expected to be at the rate of 100,000 masks per annum and is anticipated to exceed $40 million. The minimum contract period is five years with subsequent orders of equal volumes including spares and accessories following year-on-year.

New C50 Mask Receives Full NIOSH Approval

Avon Protection, a division of Avon Rubber plc, has been awarded full NIOSH CBRN air purifying respirator certification for the new wide vision C50 respirator following CE certification in 2005. Avon completes first batch production of M50 Mask

Avon Protection, a division of Avon Rubber plc, has completed the initial production of its M50 Mask under the US Joint Services General Purpose Mask program and will begin production of the second batch shortly. During 2007 the M50 mask will be fielded with US forces in a number of locations.

APCO and Police Federation recommend

The first purpose designed escape hood to protect against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) agents, has been recommended by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and the Police Federation to equip all the UK’s operational police officers at times of heightened security awareness. The EH20 escape hood developed by Avon Protection, a division of Avon Rubber plc, is entering service with a number of UK police forces as well as police services in other countries. The UK National Health Service has also procured the hood to provide escape protection to operatives who are potentially at risk, such as ambulance crews.
