Avon Protection Systems, Inc., an Avon Rubber p.l.c. company, was awarded on Jun. 9, 2009 a $20,710,568  contract to provide 726,834 Chemical B canisters for the United States DoD Joint Service General Purpose Mask (JSGPM) Program.
 
Cadillac, MI June 18, 2009 - Under a current spare parts contract with the United States Department of Defense, Avon Protection Systems, Inc. has been awarded an additional order for parts totaling $22.352M. The contract award captures a total of 726,834 JSGPM filters for delivery through August 2010.  The DoD order, valued at over $20 million and requiring Congressional notification, is the largest spares order APS, Inc. has secured since the JSGPM Program award in April 2000.

Gary Dunn, Vice President, U.S. Sales and Marketing, indicated “Securing this additional contract award with the DoD reinforces Avon’s position as a key supplier to the United States armed forces.” U.S. Army Research and Development Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., is the contracting activity (W911SR-05-D-0011).

About the JSGPM (Joint Services General Protection Mask) Program:
 The Avon Protection M50 JSGPM (Joint Services General Purpose Mask) Program is currently in service for all four US armed forces. Now being fielded, the JSGPM was developed to effectively counter respiratory threats occurring in multiple field and mission scenarios. The mask provides advanced respiratory protection against chemical and biological warfare agents, select Toxic Industrial Materials (TIMs), and particulate matter including radioactive hazards.
