Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) is the cornerstone of the U.S. amphibious
modernization program and a revolutionary means for
the Navy/Marine Corps to project power or assistance
over more than 70 percent of the world's shoreline.
Developed, manufactured, and supported by TM&LS,
LCAC is in worldwide use by the Navy and is being sought
for acquisition by foreign governments. Beyond the
basic mission of transporting personnel and equipment
from ship to shore, LCAC has become a multi-mission
craft able to operate as a personnel carrier, mine
countermeasures craft, and mobile field hospital. It
traverses snow, marsh, ice, tundra, sand, and water;
is capable of 40-knot speeds in sea state 2; and carries
150,000 pounds (68,040 kg) of cargo in overload mode.

LACV-30 is a fully amphibious, high-speed cargo carrier that
has been proven in operations over Arctic ice, desert
sand, coastal surf, and open water. Twenty-six production
LACV-30s were originally manufactured in the early
1980's for the United States Army and were used as
logistic support craft. They are capable of delivering
35 tons of payload to shore at speeds up to 45 mph
without piers or dockage. After many years of effective
use, the Army released them for civil use.
LACV-30 can skim across snow and ice at high speeds
without damaging the environment. The craft can
operate in climates with high humidity, salt water,
and extreme temperatures from -40 degrees F to
as hot as 120 degrees F. Because of its high degree
of operational flexibility, LACV-30 are suited
for many missions. The 152-square-meter cargo deck
allows for a passenger module equipped to handle
up to 90 passengers. LACV-30 can also transport
wheeled vehicles, tracked vehicles, and rigid or
flexible containers. A design upgrade offers improved
controllability and noise reduction.
