Unaudited results for the year ended 30 September 2009

Peter Slabbert, Chief Executive commented: “The 2009 results demonstrate that we can deliver in our chosen markets. Our strong order book, dominant market positions in defence respiratory protection and dairy liners, supported by technologically superior products, growing brand strength and high competitive entry barriers, should enable us to continue to improve profit margins. MoD contract award and outsourcing of UK dairy manufacturing

A second award has been received for the M50 JSGPM mask series. The combined value of these awards is $34.4m which is in line with management expectations.

Preliminary results for year ended 30 September 2008

Peter Slabbert, Chief Executive commented: “Our Dairy business remains successful, while the 10 year US Government M50 respirator programme, awarded in 2008, will provide strong and consistent future sales volumes contributing to a return to profitability in our Protection & Defence business. In the current difficult credit markets the agreement of facilities with our bankers to 30 June 2010 gives the Group a stable platform from which to capitalise on the opportunities available to it in its chosen markets.”

Sale of UK Mixing facility

In January we announced that we were commencing the closure of our UK mixing facility, a process which we were pursuing at the time of the announcement of the interim results in May. We are now pleased to announce that the Group has completed the sale of certain of its mixing facility assets to ATR Compounding Limited for a consideration of £2.05 million, payable in cash. The proceeds will be used to reduce current borrowings.

Avon wins new defence contract

Avon is pleased to announce that it has won, through its US based subsidiary Avon Engineered Fabrications, Inc. based in Mississippi, a five year contract for the supply of 210,000 gallon fuel storage tanks to Applied Geo Technologies Inc. for onward supply to the US Army.

Trading Update August 2008

In the interim results announced on 28 May 2008, the Company stated that the award of the multiyear respirator contract by the US Department of Defense (DoD) and the expectation of securing long-term contracts for the Engineered Fabrications business, should underpin the Group’s return to profitability in the short-term. It was further explained that difficulties had been experienced in the production of filters for the M50 respirator, which had led to delays and cost overruns.

Artis to work with Gammadot Rheology

Gammadot Rheology and ARTIS, (the commercialised research arm of Avon Rubber p.l.c), are investigating potential projects & services the two companies can co-operatively offer to the polymer industry. Martyn Bennett, ARTIS’ Chief Scientist, commented, "a partner with complimentary rheological skills in the thermoplastics sector will allow us to expand the services we can offer to our clients and we are looking forward to working with Gammadot".

ARTIS in consortium offered £1.2 million grant

Symphony Environmental Technologies Plc (“Symphony”), the degradable plastics and wasteto-energy Group, announces that it’s wholly owned subsidiary, Symphony Energy Ltd (the“Company”) has now been officially advised by the Technology Strategy Board that the Company and its consortium partners have been offered a £1.19m grant for collaborative research and development in the area of High Value Manufacturing, for the consortium’s Rubber Product Enhanced Recovery Technology project (“RμPERT”).

US GOVERNMENT RESPIRATOR CONTRACT AWARD

The Company confirms that it has received the multi-year contract valued at US$112million for supply of the M50 military respirator to the US Government.

TRADING UPDATE AND BOARD CHANGES

In our AGM statement we noted that growth in our Protection and Defence business had been slower than we anticipated and that the Company was expecting confirmation of the multi-year contract for the new M50 US military respirator in the very near future. The regulatory and administrative processes undertake by the US Government for contracts of this value and duration have taken much longer than previously projected.

Avon Protection Receives CBRN NIOSH Approval

CADILLAC, Mich., April 21, 2008 – Specialist and tactical responders can now take advantage of Avon Protection Systems, Inc.’s new C420 powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) system. The C420 blower unit used with the company’s most advanced face masks recently received National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) approval.

Unaudited interim results for the six months ended 31 March 2008

Commenting on the results, Peter Slabbert, Chief Executive said: “The award of the $112 million, multi-year contract by the US Government should underpin the Group’s return to profitability in the short term and secure a long-term and growing revenue stream for our Protection business. Our immediate priority is on increasing our profits through manufacturing efficiencies and cost reductions and converting significant opportunities for sales of our market leading range of respiratory protection products around the world.

On 8 February 2008, the Board of Avon Rubber p.l.c announced that it had exchanged contracts for the sale of its Aerosol Gasket business to Crosslinks Limited, based in South Wales and Corsham, Wiltshire, for a consideration of £1.75 million payable in cash on completion of the sale.

AGM Statement

At the Annual General Meeting to be held today the Chairman, The Rt. Hon. Sir Richard Needham, will make the following statement to shareholders: “At the time of our preliminary statement at the end of November 2007, we said that the Group had reached a number of significant milestones. We had announced that the full rate production decision had been made on our new military respirator and that we had received NFPA certification for our new self-contained breathing apparatus product, manufactured at ISI in Georgia.

Preliminary results for the year ended 30 September 2007

Commenting on the results, Terry Stead, Chief Executive said: “Since the interimannouncement, the Group has reached a number of significant milestones. The second half of 2007 has shown improvement over the first half. With the approval of the new product at Avon-ISI and once the full rate production starts at our Cadillac facility, we expect this to continue. The Board is confident that this, together with continued investment in new product development, will lead to a period of sustainable and profitable growth for the Group.”

Avon Announces the launch of ARTIS

Avon is delighted to announce the launch of ARTIS, an acronym for Avon Rubber Technology Innovation and Science to the commercial market. ARTIS is an advanced laboratory in Westbury, Wiltshire, England dedicated to material testing, research and development, training, legislative support including expert witness capability. ARTIS will offer cost effective expertise in all of these specialist areas.
