Avon announces the completion of the sale and leaseback of their Avon Protection Systems facility in Cadillac, Michigan, USA to RMD Cadillac, LLC and two other purchasers. The transaction has a sale value of $2.6m (£1.7m) and the net proceeds after fees and other associated costs will approximate the net book value of this asset on disposal. The net proceeds of $2m (after tax) will be used to pay down debt.

Avon Protection, part of Avon Rubber p.l.c., is expanding its operations by opening an essential service and repair centre for its respirators with a local Malaysian company. The new centre will be fully approved and Avon certified, and is to be managed by SG Defence Electronics and Radar Corporation. It will be equipped to service and repair a range of Avon masks, including the C50, FM12 and S10, all of which are currently in service in Malaysia. In January we announced that we were commencing the closure of our UK mixing facility, a process which we were pursuing at the time of the announcement of the interim results in May. We are now pleased to announce that the Group has completed the sale of certain of its mixing facility assets to ATR Compounding Limited for a consideration of £2.05 million, payable in cash. The proceeds will be used to reduce current borrowings.
